I love old cameras and use them quite a bit for weddings, portrait sessions, and for personal projects. My great uncle was a photographer and when he passed I inherited quite a bit of his equipment. Recently in going through my acquisitions (of which there are many!) I camera across a white Polaroid SX-70. The SX-70 is the classic folding camera introduced in the 70′s that brought us the classic square instant photo. Even though Polaroid stopped making the film, the Impossible Project has continued making new experimental versions of the film, making the SX-70 a much sought after camera. The camera I found a seemed to work well, but the leather was completely rotten and flaking off. I found an online store that sells new leather for old cameras and replaced the leather with new blue leather at Caitlin’s request. I think it turned out pretty well. -Micah.

While out photographing in my small (and I mean really small) hometown, I realized that in nearly each alley there was at least one, sometimes more than, one classic car covered up by a tarp. It seems that everyone has a car, that, someday, they are going to get running, and it will be glorious when they do. Now, of course, my enlightened mind immediately lamented my unfortunate situation. I am stranded in a backwoods town of under a thousand. I should be in a city somewhere, sipping coffee and bumping shoulders with the elite. This line of thinking continued till my mind, quite unfortunately came back around to my own garage. And despite my best effort to suppress my knowledge of what was sitting in my garage, I couldn’t help but remember the 1997 Ford Mustang convertible that I have been holding onto, because well, it’s just so close to running. And someday I will get that thing running. And it will be glorious.
